Based on feedback, Microsoft is making a couple small adjustments for users of “Set time zone automatically” in Date & Time Settings starting with Windows 10 build 21286: When your time zone is updated because of a high confidence detected location change, Windows will now send a notification letting you know about it.

4 Windows 11 has recently started assigning the wrong time zone to two computers when the option to "set time zone automatically" is enabled. When I disable this option, I can set the correct time zone, but immediately after I re-enable it, the time zone reverts to the incorrect one.
About 1 hour ago, I disabled "Set time zone automatically", manually set the time zone to Pacific, then re-enabled "Set time zone automatically". Just now, the system reset to Beijing time, but "WhatIsMyIP.com" still shows my locale as El Segundo, CA.
The "Set Time Zone Automatically" feature in Windows 10 uses the location information from the Windows Location APIs, which have different levels of accuracy based on where the location information was obtained.
Additionally, the Windows time settings is set to automatically get the time from the organization's time server, which I was told doesn't influence time zone. (Though, I confess, I don't know how exactly a time server works with respect to local time zones). I even made sure to turn off "Set time zone automatically". Any ideas?
This turned out to be my problem. Time zone wouldn't update automatically and I couldn't change it manually even after using "Local Security Policy" to explicitly give both the "Users" group and my administrator account explicit permission to change time and zone. Disabling Qustodio temporarily did not allow me to set the time zone. I had to uninstall completely, then it updated automatically ...
