As far as machine ab exercises go, a lot of them tend to be shortened focused, meaning the hardest part is when your spine is already bent. Also if you're shorter, machine ab crunches generally don't have a super wide range of motion Which is why in my opinion it makes a lot of sense to also incorporate cable ab crunches with your torso horizontal to your body.
